It's the info about that body style built at a particular Fisher Body Plant. I think yours is L = Lansing MI, and the number is a sequential count for whatever body style you have (Bel Air 2 door sedan, 210 4 door sedan, Bel Air wagon, etc.). This number starts at 1 for each body style and counts up as the model year progresses. So if yours is a Bel Air convertible, for example, this is the 18,160th convertible built by Fisher Body at the Lansing plant.
