FOR SALE

New Delphi 600 power steering box. I purchased direct from CPP on Ebay. This was a closeout of a kit that they produced before the 500 box using a 600 box and adapter plate. After I bought it, I had some folks on the forum tell me that I would have trouble getting it to line up and they were right so now I am kicking myself for trying to save a few bucks. It is very close as you can see from the pictures, but it is misaligned by the thickness of the adapter plate, about 1/4". I am going to offer this up for sale or trade because the 600 box is a great box and maybe someone can make this work on their car. If you have a custom application and the column could be moved 1/4" or with a shorter column a u-joint could probably be used. My firewall and steering column and finished and painted so I would rather get what will bolt right up and be done with it.

i paid $350 for the box and pitman arm but I am open to offers just to recoup some of my loss or I would be interested in trading for other parts I need to finish the car (this would be the best deal).

Some of the things I need:
gas tank
radiator
headers
bucket seats
700R4 cross member
SBC flywheel and starter
ignition
I need most of the chrome on the car (but only show, or near show quality)

PM me with offers or questions

Bump

I am looking for any offers and kicking myself for not listening to the advice on here. Im told this is a great box and if I was building a custom project it would work no problem. They are $479 without the pitman arm so for someone that can use this they are going to get a great deal.

$250 OBO

I had to shim my 500 box, and my stock box was shimmed too. I would add a shim to the front bolt to change the angle.

Thing is, when you shim, you need to not only get the box's shaft end to line up with the steering column's shaft end, you need to have them in line or the steering will bind at some point in its travel. A rag joint or a single u-joint will not tolerate any angularity.

If the adapter plate is too thick you can't get there from here. And you can only make it so thin because you need countersunk fasteners, or counterbored holes for them. And you can only go so thin on the gearbox too.
