Ever get burned out on the car hobby?

You guys ever just lose your enthusiasm and think to yourself...why am I working on this thing all the time? Lately I just have too many other things I want and need to do...it's mostly just time more than anything.

Maybe I should just wax it and put a car cover on it for a year or two?

I have had mine for over 50 years and I started from scratch. I remember that I would get so burnt out that I wanted to quit. I would have to get away from it for a while then I would go back to it after I charged my batteries. My biggest problem was not having the knowledge to do a lot of the things on it. If it wasn't for this website and these great guys on here I could not have done it. I know over the years I have asked some pretty dumb questions but some of the old guys on here would always take the time to answer them. I just want you guys to know that I sure appreciate all your patience, wisdom, and help.

I'm not overwhelmed at this point...the car is mostly done. But I need to replace the shocks on it as well as the front coils. And I want to get rid of the vacuum pump and install a hydroboost...but I just can't get motivated to work on it right now. I feel like I just want to hang it up and sell it sometimes.
sounds to me like you need to go for a long cruise in it. preferable on some cool country roads.

I can understand your frame of mind. At one point I had five classics I restored over the years. Aside from working full time all my adulthood, raising two kids and keeping the household chores in line, the car hobby always took the back seat until I was ready to tackle maintenance issues. I retired two years ago and decided to downsize my classics and only have two now. One is my 55 I've had for 45 years now. I really enjoy not having so many to keep after. There were times during restoring some of them, I became overwhelmed or frustrated and took a break. It helped. If you only have one to keep after, I say stick it out. Unless you need the money, why sell. Walk away from it for a while, even if it is months. It'll help you catch up on other priorities around your life until you feel you want to jump in again.

Yeah...I gotta get my DD fixed and I have to get this heater core fixed on my brother's vette so I can get it back to him. Less worried about the heater core and more about the DD. The '56 I can drive for the most part without messing with much.
Speaking of charging your batteries, I have parts I make and sell on ebay and that's how I fund my car projects.

I have routinely gotten some (pardon my language) stupid questions. So stupid I've given up answering them. I've just now zeroed out the quantity of a modification I do because of this.

Usually working on my 55 and running my machinery recharges me, but it's not working now. In this stage of my life I don't need the frustration. But, this item is one of my best sellers, although it's a lower price item.

I don't drink, so should I go outside and kick rocks???

Ok, rant over.
I Always get frustrated when people take on a job for you then drag it out for months . Sometimes you just need to surround yourself with like minded people to rekindle the passion
