When sanding on my bel-air, I found these holes on BOTH front fenders, they measure 3' and 3'4" from the top of the headlight hole, back towards the rear of the fender.

I've never seen anything mounted to the top of a fender in this area, and both sides measure too close together to be done by hand. I was thinking maybe a dent puller, but there's no sign of a dent being there, and again, they look like factory holes.

any ideas?

What year is your car ? also there was a option for fender spears ,,like to planes one on each fender ,,it was very rare ,i have only seen a few cars with them ,but it think they started in 56 (not really sure ) ---

I too own fenders with holes for long gone mirrors that were mounted there.

Yea mirrors,, i was looking at the fender backwards thought the holes were more towards the front of the fender ,,oh well

But that's what it is, and yeah, it's a 57 belair.

I bought a pair of rust free 56 fenders for $7.00 that had spears behind the headlight. They also had chrome splash guards behind ft tire.
