Hello everyone, I recently bought the fur channel for windows from Danchuck which I hope to install soon in my '56. It came straight and has to be bent. There lie's the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions/idea's on how to bend this. I don't want to butcher it and I want it to fit/look nice. As usual, many thanx, Carmine. (I don't know if it matters, but this would be for a 2d 210 stationwagon).

Look for something like a piece of pipe or a can that's got close to the same radius as your window frame. Mark on the fur channel where you want the bend to start and slowly and carefully bend the channel around the circular object that you've chosen for a form. It helps if you anchor your circular form in a vice so it doesn't move around.Take it real slow and easy, the fur channel is really easy to kink...good luck!

Fur channels

Just put all new fur channels in my 57 2 door bel air.Had my glass out so i used the glass as a template and yes when you get to the bends use a spray can or something close to the glass radius and go real slow so as not to get kinks. Good luck.

And another tip given awhile back was to make sure the ends of the stainless rolls are open in the slits so it can slide when bending.

When I first got my 56, the drivers window was broken and the fur channel was fur-less. I got a new window and channel. I was unsuccesful bending the channel and the metal bead kinked. It did fit into the door OK and worked with the new window just did not look great. Post how you end up getting done as your results and the rest of the gangs suggestions will help me redo it later. Thanks

It is really not that difficult. It can't be said too much so I will say it again. The secret is making sure that the ends are open. When the channels are cut the stainless portion is pinched and will cause problems when bending the channels. Open the ends with a small screwdriver or knife. You will be able to feel the stainless and the actual channels slide independently by slightly flexing the channels before your actual bending if the ends are open correctly. Once you can be sure that they are sliding freely, go ahead and slowly and carefully make your bends. Good luck!

fur channel

I took a look at Ecklers and saw that they sell the window fur channel pre-bent. Just my luck I had to buy it straight. Oh well. Thanks everyone for your time and suggestions. There was some good information there and I think I'll be alright. Its a project I'll be tackling over the winter. I'll advise after I'm done. Again, many thanx. Carmine.

Heck i did not have any problems,I put what i was bending in my vice, not too tight, and went slow, and they came out perfect.did not use a can, then i used pop rivets, some don't like rivets,it worked for me. JMO RICH :bowtieb:
