You can use a multimeter on the lowest ohm scale. Put one lead on the sender wire terminal and hold the other lead on the sender mounting plate. When the float is all the way down, it should read 0 ohms and go up to 30 ohms, as you raise the float all the way up.

SENDER

Thanks ACARDON,Itried but it stayed on 30 up or down .I guess I need a new one.Thanks again.RON

Thanks Don, I just pulled my tank today and mines shot too? My fuel pump went bad also from sitting with no gas in it. Glad I'm finding all this out now and not on the highway someday. Jim
