Getting ready to start...I hope

I'm a bit long winded so here it is in short. I am getting ready to bring my Dad's car home (to my house) as soon as I'm done pouring cement. Not sure where to start, it's been parked for awhile and long overdue. Not easy for me at the same time but I know he would appreciate me finally getting started. I plan on taking some pics tomorrow. It's been parked a little over 10 years, the only post I've made was about...I can't remember. This site seems like a great place to share ideas and memories. Maybe tomorrow I will take some pics and post them.

Hi and Welcome to TriFive :)
Oh Boy!!

Are you going to fix the car for him or you? If it's for him, I'm sure he'll be tickled that you're doing it. If it's for you, yippee!! Tell us what your plans are either way and of course, we'd like to see those pics! :anim_25:

Fixing up for Me (and the Mrs), my Dad's gone but I look forward to fixing her up. Back when he was alive he wouldn't let me touch the car, not after what I did to my Formula Firebirds. Well he said I could work on it but had to leave the motor alone, nothing I owned ever had a smooooth idle. Now having a car that runs like a top sounds better than ever. I have pics just need to download and resize them.

Plans for now, not too sure. I like the idea of the original motor but need to figure out what is in it (265 or 283). For a transmission I would like to put in a 700R4 or something that has overdrive. Needs new rear springs one of them is cracked, looking into front disc brakes. I want power steering just not sure how to go about it and what to use. I like to read so that will come in handy looking at all the threads here. Not sure about dropping the front end, I might just redo the front suspension stock with whatever is worn out and see what comes down the road. I am planning on A/C after seeing what my uncle did to his 55 but that may be years down the road. I am not sure exactly which model the car is, yes that's sad but true. Motor is original and needed valve stem seals (or guides) before parking her. I have some stuff done, but not much. As you can see there is plenty of dust, courtesy of the walnut trees and walnut orchard on the bordering property. Thanks for looking and appreciate all the support.

where do I look for id tags and that sort of stuff to see what the original options were? Thanks all
:sign0016: to Trifive hdben. Look on the firewall and on the driver door jam for vin tags.
Welcome to Tri Five. Looks to be a 1956 4dr sedan 210 model.

Just don`t jump in too deep and get overwhelmed. For PS the 500 box seems to be the way to go nowadays. If it is the original engine then it is probably going to be a 265.
