so the other day i determined i would have to do the 1/4 patches b4 i could put the tubs in for good.






forgot to ask.
at the dogleg of the patch, i for some reason cannot get it to weld at all. im wondering if it aint got led in the seam of the
1/4 and rocker meeting point

You are correct, that is a leaded seam. You might try heating it up red hot with a torch and then wire brush it to remove the lead. Be carefull doing this as the lead will want to spatter as you heat it. Wear a face shield and heavy gloves. After it has cooled clean the area with a wire brush or scotchbrite pad in a drill to bright metal. Should then be able to weld.

You don't need to heat the lead anywhere near red hot. In fact, a little heating with a propane torch will melt it. Then wire brush it while hot to remove most of the lead, and sand the rest away before welding.
