I was wondering what the ground clearance to the front crossmember of a stock 56 would be ,Stock springs with no cut coils or dropped spindles please just stock. For comparrison only mine with 1 coil cut and 2" drop spinfles measures 6".

If I remember right my '56 sits at about 7-3/4" with original springs. So the 8.1" sounds about right. I'd go measure for you but the doors and front clip are still off.

Rule of thumb on lowered cars: 4.5" is the practical lower limit most of the time. Of course your driving may have a driveway or speed bump that's worse than "most".
