I am not familiar with the details of the GTO rotors and calipers, but I'll bet they are similar to the C4/C5 Corvette or 4th gen Camaro pieces. By that I mean that the rotors are hat style with a separate hub, and the calipers are double piston aluminum.

I'm sure there is a way but you may be on your own. Biggest thing is you'll have to come up with a hub with the right offset and build your own caliper brackets.

There's pieces out there to adapt Corvette and 4th gen Camaro brakes to 60s cars, but 55-57s are another story.

Another deal, the 4th gen Camaro and C4 Corvette are a bit easier than C5 Corvette, just because of some dimension details. I don't know which of the above the GTO is more like, if at all.

The GTO is a Holden Monaro from Au - nothing like the stateside GM - the only thing shared directly with the stateside GMs is the engine, and trans. I have already looked into fitting mine with vette or camaro calipers as these are fairly inexpensive and there are some pretty ones - but alas they do not "just fit" and my options are the pricier ones for the goat specifically or I reckon the Gms could be fitted with a whole kitfrom the oddball lugged hubs to the caliper mounts). the lug patterns are the same as a beemer though so wheels are avail but some guys have run camaro wheels and swear they work great but the few thou diff scares me and I won't....

besides that my wife who co -owns nixed the idea when we got production numbers - we have the Barbados 6 - the lowest number in 04 and within the first few off the assembly line after the retool for the rear diff mount the only retool in the run).

You guys have summed it up pretty well. The GTO was the Holden Commodore coupe (Monaro). The Commodore sedan was also the Pontiac G8. The same platform has been used for the current Camaro. The luxury long wheel base Statesman will soon be your new cop cars.

The Commodore uses a bolt pattern that is slightly different to the Chev pattern and whilst some guys here use the Chev pattern wheels it is not recommended. Rick is correct about the hat style hub.

A local company Hoppers Stoppers does convert the brakes for Tri5 Chevys. They fabricate a caliper mount and make an adaptor hub. They generally get new disc rotors and drill them to what ever bolt pattern you make.

Whilst it might seem like a good idea and it is doable, the cost of converting the GTO brakes as a one off might outweigh any advantages of using any US made big brake kit.

PBR Australia used to make the Corvette brakes here (not sure if they still do) - but were not allowed to sell them here. So if Aussies wanted them they had to source them from the US. :confused0006:

The owner of Hoppers Stoppers is currently touring the US in his '36 Chevy sedan, So if you see a RHD chopped bright blue and flamed '36 more door in your travels, say hello to Peter and have a chat to him about brakes - he might even do a conversion for you if you ask nicely!:)

Interesting that the PBR brakes are not on the GM Australia cars. I thought that might be where some commonality might be.

Just what is the bolt pattern dimension? Seems like I recall the BMW pattern is VERY close - like not enough difference to worry about - but I don't know the numbers.

GTO - 5x120mm (5x4.72 inches)- (and beemer)
Camaro - 5x4.75-(5x120.65mm).
And no as some folks tend to speculate the Aussies did not just round to display in their metric standard. Its a true metric wheel (else you would not have any hot rod Monaros sporting nice rims in the Au).

Lugs .030 off center is scary to me but even some wheel peddlers say they fit (anything to make a buck maybe?).

When I was in cairns in sept of 05 about 10 Monaros all souped up and running some fuel not from the regular pumps came cruising by - quite the wow, we would get locked up running that kind of stuff on the street (equipment AND/or fuel). And I was EXTREMELY disapointed that the El Camino did not make a return to GM lineup in '10 by way of the Holden Ute. I was gonna try to get a real low numbered one.

While in Sydney I rented a Monaro (did ya see me - I was the idiot turning on the windshield wipers to signal my turns...) and found a neat little thing called the bluethooth button (had already experienced many a missed phone call while running through the close ratio) - right next to the door lock button in the center console - neither of which was available at all in the 04 GTO. I went to a dealer and got all the stuff to wire them both in as original equipment. The bluetooth is not avail in any GTO and the door lock was only in 05 and 06So mine is unique! Now if only the radio volume knob weren't on the wrong side, well actually it is on the right side which is just wrong..

Statesman eh - wonder which name plate as Pontiac is pushing daisies. And only a cop car? That would be a shame its a nice car.

With the wheel bolt centre difference, the trouble is, a lot of the guys here think they fit, and when told they are a little different, their reaction is "close enough".

A mate worked for GMH at Lang Lang test track. Some time ago he went with a group to test some Corvettes around Alice Springs for a couple of weeks of thrashing them to see when they would give up. Tough work, but someone has to do it.:) Next time I see him I'll ask him if he was in cairns with the Monaros.

The Statesman cop car was announced here a few weeks ago, will be a Chevy Caprice. Pretty sure they are to be built here and exported to the US. GMH has done a real good job of exporting cars to the Middle East and other places in recent years. The El Camino apparently was really close to US production. I could not understand the Pontiac badge - should have been Chevy. There were a few prototypes sent to the US. When I was over in Cal last year I met someone who has one. If you would like to know who, send me a PM. Another guy who I know works for GMH in Adelaide and he told me how close the ute was to production (as a Pontiac) and he said that the US version, whilst not successful, helped the Aussie Commodore develope side air bags, so all the Aussies with the latest Commodores owe the increased safety in them to you guys.

We send you all our good cars. News I heard last week was that next year we are getting a Chevy Down Under.

Ronnie, sorry if we are getting a bit off topic with your post.
