Sorry for your troubles, hope the fix was easy, did I see a fold-down strap threaded thru your beautiful front mag wheel, possible cosmetic damage plus not the right way to secure a car to a rollback (esp one that looms as good as that one).

Hey, we have all been there or we will be there. I was there 10 months ago myself. First time "the girlfriend" let me down in 20k.

Only use for AAA towing I've had has been my 57, it may be the ride of shame to some, but I was happy to have 'Ivey' rollbacked home for repair instead of have to winch it onto my trailer, membership is worth the fee for convenience and peace of mind. Car and site 'handle' are for the first name of the prior owner that originally hot rodder the car, bought it from his son years after he passed away and got to be the third owner. Car from the neighborhood but sadly never met Ivey but think I would have liked him.

AAA is good but has some very odd agreements with their contracted tow companies and 1 - 2 + hour wait is very common here in VA. If your vehicle is impeding traffic many municipal police departments do no allow you to wait for AAA regardless of the ETA they give over the phone. I realize that may offend some but it is a safety/manpower issue.

You have to meet specific requirements to be a recommended tow company for a municipality. One of the requirements is you can not accept to tow a vehicle unless you can be on scene in 30 minutes. That said, I have a AAA account for when we travel...flat tires and the classic cars if they break down. It's a trade off it seems in my experience. Glad you were safe and got her home safe.

I had a girlfriend that dispatched for a towing company. The called AAA "Triple A no pay" They would site and play cards instead of responding quickly to AAA calls.

I added towing to my collector car insurance for that reason.

Sorry to hear she broke down on you. It happens sometimes. I hope it’s something very minor and I hope the towing company didn’t damage anything. In the almost 40 years driving old Chevy, even as daily drivers, I’ve only had to be towed home once. Unfortunately for me, the engine ran fine, but the balancer came off, ruining the key way on the crank. Fortunately I was already having another engine built for the car anyway.

4 hour wait on AAA do I’m canceling tomorrow.
