On a 55, you have to connect ign1 and ign2 terminals of the ignition switch together and run them to the + coil. Ign2 provides power to the coil while cranking and ign1 provides power in the run position. http://www.trifive.com/garage/55%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/12-5.gif
