Hello folks,
This is my first post so I guess I should tell you about my 1957 Nomad. i purchased the car from the original owner in 1968 for $600 and have been working on it ever since. the latest mods done about 8 years ago include a 468 big block, turbo 400,9 inch ford rear end and 4 wheel disc brakes. I still have the original 283 power pack engine that came with the car. This car has been a work in progrees for most of my adult life. I have loved tri five chevys for about 50 years. My name is John

Thanks for the warm welcome

Boy you guys make a newbie feel like one of the crew. If anybody is interested, my Nomad started life as a three speed power pack with few options other than a deluxe heater a radio. Over the years i blew up the three speed and replaced it with a muncie m20, then blew up the rear end and replaced that with a 4:11 posi unit. After that it was the full bore and rebuild on the 283 which went to 292 inches with 202 slant plug heads, sig Erson cam,Edelbrock Torker maifold and a 650 cfm Holley double Pumper. it stayed like this for the next 20 years or so and was a daily driver that got about 8 miles to the gallon.
A friend of mine was extolling the virtues of Big Block Chevy motors so I jumped in wth both feet. The car now has a 468 big block, turbo 400,narrowed 9 inch Ford rear end, dropped spindles, four wheel disc brakes and the only thing I can't pass is a gas station. The car by the way is still Sierra gold and Adobe Beige two tone.

Hey John and welcome to TriFive. Had a chance to buy a '57 Nomad from a friend for $350.00 just before I turned 16. My thinking then was, who wants a station wagon. :banghead:
