Hey everybody.. I'm trying to figure what kind of motor is in my 57'. The stamp pad code / suffix reads = C0531C8K

I can not find any suffix that involves C8K .. it is def. not C8X .

Anyone got any input?

All three Chevrolet dealers that I have contacted are no help - nor are any websites..

Closest thing I can find is C8X or C8B
Can you see the casting # on the rear of the block?

Need the casting number on the driver rear of the block Jim

until now I had not seen a number between the letters, still learning I guess.

Hi sorry for the late reply. If you're still looking for info the engine is Canadian, 350 cid, casting 3970010, 2 bolt main. Probably 1979/ Canadian Pontiac built in Oshawa. The vin id should start with a K, not a C, as the k is St.Catherines plant. My neighbour has identical engine in his garage (K0110C8K) and I was checking out the numbers. Can you read the other vin id? If so third digit is one for Oshawa assembly plant. First digit will be vehicle line. Hope this helps, better late than never?
