Hi all, :wavey:

First post here. I come from near Sydney is Australia and currently drive a HSV Clubsport (similar to your GTO's)

Mid life crisis has hit and I want to get into a 57 Bel air 210 coupe.

I will be trolling around researching as much info as possible.

Welcome Aboard!
Hi Redsled,
Welcome aboard, I too have a HSV Clubsport R8 as well as the toys, but thinking to sell it to buy a 2010 Camaro.
With regard to the 57's, I understand you have a tricky importation position atm regarding modified cars, just mentioning that to see what you had in mind, whether to buy locally.
Rod.
WELCOME

Hi thumper.

I do have a mate who is a customs broker to help me get through the importation stuff, but getting it registered is a whole new deal so Im thinking of buying locally.
Hello Redsled
welcome aboard
you can add me to the commodore owners guild
had an HSV but sold it and decided to buy a new ve ss-v instead
only difference is the badges and of course the price
but regardless I enjoy driving my old 56 more than the new car anyway
good luck with the purchase of the 57 whichever way you go
enjoy...:)
Thanks Chris.

My mid life crisis car was either going to be a 57 Chev or a Shelby Cobra replica.

Hard to squeeze wife and 2 kids into the Cobra, plus with the power to weight, I would probably put it into a pole anyway.

Looking forward to just cruising,,,

Hey...I just saw you are from Invercargill.....

Worlds Fastest Indian put you guys on the map hey? ( I bet you are sick of hearing that)
:hello: hi ya and welcome. good to have you here. good hunting for that 57. :anim_25:

Welcome to trifive by another Aussie. Hope you can find the 57 you are after.
Import / Export a 1957 Chevy Belair

Redsled,

Being that it is older than 25 years old, you should not have any problems in exporting a 1957 Chevy Belair. You can do your own research via the internet. I don't think you will need a Customs Broker because it will be used for personal use and the value depends on what the rules are from Austraila's Customs, also I assume it will not be imported to Australia for the purpose of reselling it. If you were importing this classic car into the United States, being that it is older that 25 years old, all you will need is the registration or Title and the U.S. Customs Form HS-7.
REDSLED, WELCOME FROM KANSAS!!!

Thanks for the info.

I will look at importing as I travel to the states almost every year. Plenty of homework and research to do. Emmission may be a big thing but I will research and research.
Hi from another Ausie, hope all go's well with the 57 search.
There's plenty cars to cheak out in Auss befor inporting from the States. Cheers - Stu
G'Day Redsled welcome to trifive good to have another Aussie on
here, like previous members have said, the import rules have changed
any modifications on the vehicle have to have been done previous to
1989,and you must be able to prove it,typical for our idiotic government
do destroy peoples enjoyment,Do as much research as possible as there
are a few people with alot of money invested in imported cars
that are stuck on the wharf,I am no expert but a few of the latest car
mags have writeups about this subject
good luck with searching hope you get what ya want
