So i have a personnel friend who is a California Highway Patrolman, and he was kind enough to inform me that starting this Friday night the 19th @ midnight, ALL HIGHWAY PATROLMAN NATIONWIDE from the San Francisco to New York City on Hwy 80 will be conducting a ZERO tolerance campaign for one week staright.

There goal is to have one week of ZERO fatality's.

So if you are going one mile over the speed limit, be prepared to show them you current registration and proof of insurance :sign0020:

Not to point any fingers, but Iowa started this campaign, and all the other states that have Hwy 80 running threw there state jumped on the band wagon.

So i wanted to pass on this info to all my fellow bowtie-trifive brothers and sisters, hopefully you will all have a safe week with out any tickets. :)

Texas has been "swarming" Highway Patrol to selected areas/roads for years.

I guess I don't understand the mentality. It just signals where they will be, and where they may not be.

Their goal is to have one week of ZERO fatality's is a good one. But it sounds like they just going to write bunch ticket. N.C. Court would never convict on a 1 mile over speed limit.
Not sure the Highway Patrol in N.C. could slow down enough to notice that anybody is 1 mile over the speed limit.

My wife's biggest beef is the Highway Patrol sets a bad example with they driving habits.

Frankly I have great respect for the N.C. Highway Patrol they help me out more than once.

I told him i was going down to Sac on Saturday to have the A/C charged up, and that is why he brought up the fact of the zero tolerance...:sign0020:

its all about revenue, they all need $$$$

My exact words when he told me about the crack down...:sign0020:

Well they already started last night. I was driving back to Sacramento from San Francisco, and there were already several speed traps. I wasn't speeding so no worries, but I have to go back tomorrow for the weekend.

Their idea is to let people know where they will be and then people will slow down and be more careful at least in that area....:tu

They always sit right where you turn off I-80 to get to Hwy 2, kind of blind right there coming from the West.

Thats exit 397.
oh I just remembered, Hwy 15 North is being worked on too, plus they have a batch plant near David City and they're running asphalt all the way down to Hwy 34 connecting Seward to Lincoln. You're risking a few gravel pits in the front of your car / windshield.

When I went to Columbus for Memorial Weekend I followd 2 semi's from David to there turn onto eastbound 34. I ran about 1/2 mile behind them and didn't get ant closer.

Rick, thanks for the heads up will be heading to Tracy tomorrow morning. I always watch the area through Auburn. I will pay close attention on the road tomorrow. I usually go 5 to 10 mph over the limit, I will try and stay at 65. Have a safe trip, maybe see you on the road. Ron
