On the top of the cowl on 55 Chevy's there are two holes that usually have a rubber plug in them. Does anyone know what their purpose was?

Thanks Geoff

I'm not sure which holes being referred to, but I think there were extra holes in the cowl, used by Fisher body to hold the cowl during body assembly.

RE: Holes in cowl

Don The holes are located about 4 1/2" in from the holes where the upper fender bracket fastens to the cowl. One is real close to the cowl tag. They are 1/2" in diameter. I was thinking too that they might have been used hold the piece during stamping. I was thinking of welding them up but wanted to know if they actually served a purpose.

Cheers Geoff
