I have a 57 2-door hardtop that I am having difficulty getting the hood to latch down. Going down the road the hood will pop up, only to be stopped by the safety catch. I have tried adjusting the the bumpers on the corners and ended up getting the hood stuck down. Fortunately I was able to get it to release again. The hood itself sits square between the front fenders, but is high next to the windshield and a little high coming down to the front. I have ordered a new latch plate to see if that may do it. Any advice would be appreciated. Dennis

The tri-five parts suppliers sell a rebuild kit for the latch. Mine did exactly what yours is doing and after installing the kit it works like new. The kit contains the springs for the latch.

Dave, are you talking about shimming next to the firewall? Or shimming the catch plate up? Thanks for the reply. Dennis
