the restorer shop says that to change the stock steering box is a 6 hour job. is that true? 55 bel air convert with power pack and power steering with auto trans. is this something i can do on my own. i want to keep it stock. thanks guys
Hi Zan. Learning curve. I'm old and slow, but took me a couple of weeks to figure it all out, 6 hrs sounds really good to me. You can do it as I did, but plan on more hours (just my experience and I wouldn't take for it, I did it) Lloyd
Zan to change out the steering box you have to tear down the upper column, then unbolt the linkages and then work the box/shaft outwards. Then have to go back in reverse. I can see it taking 6hrs pretty easy.
