Hey guys I just picked up a 55 4 door station wagon and I can`t figure out how to open the tail gate, the hardware is missing. Also I was wondering is their a cross member conversion kit to put a 350 in place of the three speed?

Use a large screwdrive in the square hole and turn to open the tail gate. A conversion kit for the cross member you can check Jegs or Speedway motors. You may have to go with an additional,mid mount on the bell housing, if you have front motor mounts.:anim_25:

A garage door T handle will work, the screw holes line up with the holes in the gate. I used one on the 57 until I got a good used wagon handle ass'y, good day.

Is it just the T handle that is missing or the entire hardware that the T handle would fit into?
