Just when I thought I was done with projects, a mechanic I know asks me, Hey Boss, do you want to look at a stash of old cars? DUHHH.
First thing I see is a '52 Chevy survivor, six grand...no thanks. Next we go to the stash. Some interesting cars from the late thirties to late sixties. Lots of Impalas, a Corvair convertible and a van. In my haste I did pick a couple that gor my attention. A 1967 LeMans convertible with an IL six with 4bbl, Still has the rally wheels. The other is a 1959 Chevy Impala 2dr HT, with a factory 348, and 4 on the floor. It is missing the shifter console. It is also missing the seats, and both doors. Who know what else. Neither car has been tricked, so not even sure if they would start.
The LeMans looks a lot like a GTO without the tripower, special hood and emblems.
Don't really know what I'll do with them if they prove too much of a challange, but there's a couple more I'm going to look at.

I know what you mean Bob.

I Need another project like I need and Eni....... never mind I don't need one of those either. Anyway I've got enough of my own projects to work on as well as 2 years worth of projects for other folks, with not enough time to get them all done, and unfortunately not getting any younger.

Good luck on your projects. At least with the Lemans you can get pretty much any part you need either new or used. I'm finishing a 67 GTO H/O car currently.

Isn't that an OHC 6 in the Lemans? That would be a great car... The OHC six is NOT just the normal in line 6... has the power of a small block Chevy V8... and look great in an engine compartment and always get attention!
I suppose we're all getting like the 'crazy ol' cat lady'.. exceptin we're all crazy old car guys! :)
but I suppose there are worse things to be called.. :)

The LeMans is a GTO without the Trimotor and badges, This one has the big six. I might save it as a survivor, The Impala I might clean up and flip it to help pay for the LeMans.

Yes those sprint 6s just look cool. I have a friend that has one and a GTO with a 389 3/2 when he has them side by side the sprint gets more attention.

I like that Lemans. A lot of folks would be tempted to make a "GTO clone" out of it; I think that car deserves a restoration. It's a pretty special car, IMO.
I thought about it at first, and if it was the small six I'd still be thinking about it, but the more I read about the 1967 LeMans Sprint OHC 6, the more I like it...plus it has a factory 4sp.

That restoration will cost a fortune.
First thing I will do, as with all of my other restorations, is to make sure I have a good drive train. All of the engines on my restorations, with the exception of my '49 Olds 98 with the LS engine, started off with zero miles.
I bought my '62 Corvette in November of 2020, and by 02/2021 I had a restored drivetrain, starting with a 335hp dyno'd 327 by a shop in San Diego. Both of the engines on my 56's were machined in Santa Clara, and the Nomad's 350 with a 700R4 was machined ine El Centro. The Nomad clocked at 15.0 secs in the qtr with no fine tuning and a 3.35 rear end.
I have seen what a Jimmy 6 can do in the qtr at Eagle's Field. It did not embarass itself.
Happy New Year Hass!!!

I agree that Lemans is the sweetheart in that crowd. I'd like to start an orphanage for neglected cars and adopt them out to good homes.
