Hey gang, I have a 327-365 vette engine in my 57

I want to get the most hp from the engine.

I know I will need everything accept the rotating assembly however I do want a hydraulic roller camshft and must run on pump gas.

Does anybody have any build programs that you can share with me?

Thanks Paul

engine

i mean no disrespect but it sounds like very good engine to start with it has some history i would leave it alone unless it requires freshening that is the only way i would go into it i would put good ignition good exhaust and maybe a good carb and run it there are lot of combos for motors to make power but to find one as rare and has good history for hp i would dress it and press it and enjoy it that is only my opnion
thanks bob

:dito:What Bob said... Someone wiser than me said "You can't argue with success" I have a bits & pieces 327 in my 56 and I love it... It will get as many speeding tickets as the bad boys get if you let it... Later, Dave

The 365hp 327 had a pretty high compression ratio If your going to retain the stock heads your probably going to want to have them ported , even ported they arent going to have the hp potential a set of dart, afr and other aftermarket heads can deliver. You can roughly use common 350 builds ( other than pistons ) but expect to be about 20-30 peak hp/torque less than a 350 due the cubic inch difference if you achieve the same static c/r with piston selection or milling the head.

Its a great engine as is, but some things to consider:

It already has a high compression and the seats in the valves are made for "lead gas". I have an 11:1 CR 327 and have to run fuel additives for the leaded gas and increased CR.

Killing Birds??

Maybe kill 2 birds with one stone put on a set of Brodix IK 180ncc aluminum heads. look for bigger chambers to drop the compression of your 11: 1 motor so you can run pump gas without tearing up the valve seats. The heads will outflow stock heads by a country mile and maybe actually raise horserpower a little Add a hydralic roller and you'll have a real winner.

327

i'am sorry but i don't think you are getting the point if you are going to tear down a classic 327 and start adding aftermarket heads roller cam intake to this motor than why not just build another motor if you are looking for more power than build a big inch small block 9.1comp possible 434ci and you will have all of the power you will need and you can run it on 87 i don't get it this is a great motor why mess with it
thanks bob
p.s. i don't wish to get in a pi!!ing match just want someone to tell me why all of the changes
