What is the quality of the replacement switches these days? I restored a 55 in 1996 and replaced them all without any problems. my 57 has 70k miles and has been in dry storage since 1978, tempted to run the originals if today's replacement switches are shakey, thanks!

1957 NOS switches are harder to find than those for 1955/ 1956. I would go NOS if available. Most replacement (especially headlight) switches don't have a very good reputation.

Yea Kinda a crapshoot as far as Headlight switches. I ended up buying 3 "new replacements" from different vendors for my 55. Not real happy with the way they worked. kinda rough and tumble. ended up sourcing some old GM headlight switches at flea markets and rebuilt a good one of all the best parts from each. Been working for 7 years now. And if you figure it all the combined parts are still 67+ years old.
I would take them out clean, grease them up probably be as good as new. AS long as they are in decent shape now.

You`ll find most folks will recommend go with a NOS switch.
