My boss was cleaning out his garage and was going to throw these out (set of 4)
He says they suck compared to the radials I have now, but these are more period correct.
Now I just need 4 stock rims so I can switch them out at will..

Probably be okay if you are only driving the car off and on a trailer and show it...Tires have an age limit, regardless if they are being run or not.

No trailer, but I was going to stay away from the highway with these, I'll use them for the close car shows etc. If I do any "real" driving I'll put the radials back on. From what my boss has told me these are not that old (code on the tire is CYH6 C14510), so 13 years old? with less than 200 miles on them. I've driven on worse.

Nowadays 7 year old tires are considered too old. The 1st blowout i had was on 5 year old tires with 12k.

Installing them is going to bite you and you will be sorry, your boss had the right idea...trash them.
If you are to use them drive around a while so you can get used to them

Yep, any crack in the road your car will want to follow it. I went to DB tires that have the same pie crust look in a radial. Huge improvement in drivability.

I always laugh when ppl talk about "better technology" on parts today. I also laugh when I see people asking how to make their old Vettes "ride smoother".

That is not meant as an insult to anyone in this thread.

Well this probably isn't a bragging point I should make but, the car I use daily has 23 year old tires, the tires that are on the Bel Air now are from 03, the tires on the Beetle are from 02, my Royal Enfield tires are about 11 years old, and my 1970 Triumph tires are probably pushing 30.. The only things around here with new rubber are the 2 electric cars.

Although I haven't driven my car much yet after reading stories about tires on this forum and then finding out my brand new tires were put on the car in the mid 90's my car hasn't seen anything faster than 25 miles an hour just driving around my house. My car is now laid up with me doing the restoration and it won't see the road again until I finish and have new tires (and a million other things). It hurts a bit because they look brand new - but safety first.

Don't know where you're located, but I see stock '57 wheels for sale fairly often. They are easily identified as 14" wheels with no slots and with the 4 wheel cover bumps.
Tire shops should refuse to mount or repair tires that are more than 10 years old. They have done so for my 1999 truck with original tires with 20k miles. I replaced the tires before carrying significant loads.

Original rims have been known to fail with radials installed, presumably because of increased stress on the bead area.
Personally, I am AFRAID of old tires...Everyone needs to read this past thread:

East cost, near Philadelphia, the only thing out there right now is some 57 Olds wheels, I'm in no hurry and I go to swap meets all the time, just haven't found any in the first week of looking yet.

Is this listing from FaceBook Marketplace? I see a correct '57 for sale in the general southeast PA area. I know, because I've been looking for correct '58 wheels, which for some reason seem to be much harder to find than '57s.

Don't use 'em...Replace them then.
