My boss was cleaning out his garage and was going to throw these out (set of 4)
He says they suck compared to the radials I have now, but these are more period correct.
Now I just need 4 stock rims so I can switch them out at will..

I agree - either too expensive or too far away. In my search for '58 wheels, I've been having to pay and to have them shipped. '57 wheels don't seem to be uncommon. I must say to be aware of rust, especially in the tire bead area. I've read about original rims failing when used with radial tires, however, I believe it's due to using rusty wheels. I've been using radial tires on original rims for 30 years now and have never had a wheel failure, nor do I know anyone who had a wheel failure. but please be wary of heavy rust in the tire bead area.

Luckily I'm not desperate for them so I can be picky, I've always wanted some wide white walls, but if I have to wait all summer I will. I just went to a cars and coffee yesterday and I don't think anyone really notices the tires that are on it now, just the die-hards will pick up on the wrong rubber. I had a guy parked next to me with a Packard and he was telling me he never like the 57's only the 58's, by then end of the day he said he really liked my car and it changed his mind on 57's. Maybe it was the color, I don't know.

Personally, I am AFRAID of old tires...Everyone needs to read this past thread:

Thanks for sharing this Pops - Adding seat belts have been rattling around in the back of my head, but I had been struggling with it, trying to keep it stock. Made the decision today after reading your post, that it's time to add them

Thanks for the heads up, but to far and too much (I'm a cheap SOB)
Cheap can get real expensive real quick when playing with old tires.

Tires, brakes and steering are three things that you don't cheap out on

You may get only one chance to stop or turn the wheel.
65 year old brake lines concern me more..
And 65-year -old master cylinder and wheel cylinders. I'd rebuild or replace those.

I was referring to the rims. I'm not spending north of $200 on a set of stock rims.

India Ivory over Coronado, still getting used to the silver/black interior tho-

In my opinion, I'd rather have the silver/black interior that came with a Coronado Yellow '57 BelAir than the yellow/silver/black interior that came with a Colonial Cream '57 BelAir. And $200 isn't bad for a set of stock '57 rims. I think that's great, actually, especially if they are as rust-free as they can get. Wish I could find a set of '58s for $200, but I already have two of them.

Yea after seeing the yellow on yellow I think I like the black better, it's just I had a green one (for 40+ years) with green interior and was just so used to body color matching dash color and I liked the light green instruments, it was just kind of a shock to have yellow car and black dash, it just felt un-natural in some way. To be honest I didn't like the yellow for months really, but it has grown on me finally. As far as the rims, since they are for the dreaded-unsafe-definitely-going-to-kill-me white walls, I can hold out til I find something cheap/free.

That's one thing that's great about '50s cars -- the colors. I will also say that my Sierra Gold '58 was shocking when I first bought because I was used to owning black, green, and blue cars but now I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm proud to own a car in a unique factory color. I'm not in a rush to obtain rims either. As long as I have them for the front, for now, I'm good. I have got to replace these tires soon. They're rubbing the A arms and not consistently, so I guess they're bulging/in the process of failing.

Yea I think we all start bulging as we age.
