When I removed the 6 cyl from my car and installed the V8 the front end of the car rose up about 1and1/2"-2". The six cylinder motor is heavier than the V8. I know you think I'm crazy but it's a fact. V8 spings will lower the front of the car if your running a V8 and currently have 6 cyl springs installed.

The 6 cylinder engine only weighs 30 pounds more than the stock V8.

More important, the Powerglide weighs 95 pounds more than the manual 3 speed.

So you can see the transmission weight is far more important.
