Been on the fence a little while deciding if I want to supercharge my old SBC 350 or upgrade into the LS platform. I'm setup for cruiser/enjoyment, no racing, but like "more power" (insert grunting). I just spied an 02 LQ4 with less than 60K miles. I've read a little about them and sounds like they make a good platform to easily reach 400-450HP with cam, headers, tune, heads, etc. Have any of you done this? What about injectors; can stock be used and up to what point? How are the 317 head castings, or is it just better to go aftermarket? I'm figuring the LS platform would have more "driveability" when a comparable SBC with same HP numbers.

I think that the ls2 with over 400 hp in stock config would fill your driveability issue and provide plenty of(insert grunting). Heck with better breathing and exhaust you are close to 450 hp.
GM has put the ls2 in so many vehicles the price should be down some.

Yep!

I'm in the "LS crowd", with an LQ4.. 2005 version w/ a 4L65E behind it. I am using the 6 cyl converter, 3.70 gears.
The engine has a mild cam, new springs, pushrods, ARP rod and head bolts, truck intake w/ Summit EFI rails and my home made rail mounts. [truck intakes give up little/nothing up to 5000+ rpm.]
It's in the plan for a 150 "shot", too.:evil::evil:
The 317 heads are killers w/ a turbo/blower on them. 9.4 CR. Lots of engines at >650 FWHP and good driveability. N/a they are an easy 375/400...
Stock injs should be good to about 375-400FW.

Need more info, PM me.....

The ONLY way to "fly" IMO...:party0031:

I know where I can get an 05 LS2 and AT with only 1200 miles for $4000. I guess it sounds pricey up front, but that 400+ hp would be fun and have driveability....

You can always do the L92/LS3 heads and LS3 intake on the LQ4 and get 450 hp easy!

Add LQ9 flat tops and cam and get 500HP!

Another Iron blocked 6.0

So, found another iron blocked 6.0 with low miles, complete with computer and accessories. Is $1800 a fair price?

I'm not sure which one it is. It was out of 07 Tahoe or Suburban and had 20K miles on it. No tranny included, but he knows it had a 4L80e.

Is it an aluminum block or iron?

Not an bad price.

Does he have a VIN for it. If so what is it I can run it and see just what motor it is.
