I received the 1957 non-power disc kit from Eckler's and the m/c has a 1" diameter shallow bore so my stock pedal rod is too long. Can I use this master cylinder for non-power front discs by shortening the rod (or buying a universal rod kit from Summit)?

DO NOT use a shallow bore m/c with manual brakes!! if the piston hangs up when you let off the pedal the rod can fall out and then you have no brakes

I switch them from power to manual all the time, For example I was at the track tacing my manual brake camaro and the master cyl went out. I dropped the trailer and ran home and pulled the master cyl off my power brake Z28 and went back to track and went racing. The master cyl on my manual brake 56 HT came off a 69 GMC with power.

Thanks Guys - I see Danchuk has one which includes a piston bore depth adapter that will work with both power and non-power brake systems.
I think I'll order that one and remove the existing m/c.
