Ok, I have read a LOT of archives and can't seem to narrow my search down.

On my 55 what is the best motor mount to install for a small block? I see a lot of vendors have them, but which are best? I think I'd like the weld in versions. I saw a vendor (can't find it now) that had a nice set that incorporated a piece that welded in where the crossmember met the side frame rails. That looked nice, but I can't find it now.
Plan on running a muncie 4 speed. will need a cross member as well.

I believe my side mounts were the McGaughy`s mounts. They worked out fine. You need to decide if you want the stock location or the 3/4" forward mounts.

What advantage is there to moving it forward? To clear an HEI?
Yes pretty much. A small body HEI will work with it in the stock location though.

As with most vendors out there, good and bad parts can and are produced on a daily basis. I have through the years seen most examples of the good, the bad and certainly, the ugly. I switched over to Williams a few years back and have never (Read this as NEVER) had a bad experience with any of their products, especially their motor mount kits. I know others will chime in and say you can spend less and certainly, you can - in fact if time allows, you can build your own and save $$. However, you can buy a product, get it in, weld it up and continue on with other tasks without worry, return freight charges ($ucks when it happens) wait until they (Vendor ) receives your return, inspects and argues, ships more to you and you finally get them right - or, you can go on and purchase the best.

Earle Williams motor mounts.

Everything I've gotten from Earle Williams has been top-notch and fit perfectly the first time.
He is definitely an innovator for tri-five parts.

The true test of a good vendor: I had to exchange some items after I had changed direction with my project and he was very fair about that, too.

You can't go wrong with Earle's engine mounts.

THANKS guys, the Williams mounts were the ones I was looking at , just couldn't find them again. I hope to have the frame out in a week or so. Need to get the mounts welded in and get started on moving the rear springs as well...I think I'm gonna fab up my own rear shock mounts.
