Yep, that's what I'm calling it. I want to build a 265 (SBC = mouse, 265 = smallest early, so I call it the Mini Mouse) with max possible HP as I can practically get to. The reason is reverence for the original SBC that started it all and also nostalgia. Without the 265 none of it would have happened.
Anyway, I currently have learned (I think) that the heads are the biggest challenge. Can't use ALU comp heads as the big 2.02 valves will hit the block. So maybe 57 PP 283 heads are as good as it gets. That's the first question. Then what cam to use? Can't be much because of the small CI, maybe 215 duration and 440 lift. Any comments, suggestions (including you think I'm nuts:rolleyes:) thanks a bunch in advance.

I don't think you're nuts, I have the original 265 PowerPak engine in my 56. I bumped the cam up a little, can't remember exactly but it was a hydraulic competition brand cam. Smooth idle. It runs pretty strong for a mouse motor, I call mine "mighty mouse" LOL. Dave

Michael....I too have a 265 in my most recently acquired 55....It runs strong and pulls the car along just fine...No need for anything larger IMHO.

Someone must have rebuilt it at some point though....It has later model PP heads and an Edelbrock intake manifold....Would be nice to know what else was done to it.....However, I'm not going to tear it down to find out

Maybe Turbocharged

:vroam:

This might really do the trick. A good turbocharge kit can really add HP. I'm not adverse to using modern components, just gotta stick with the 265.

Speed Daddy turbos says we can get to 450hp!!! Now we're talkin. A 450hp 265?? :party0031:

Anybody done this?
