Wow! It hit us hard and fast at Hot August Nights.. Torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightening. People driving their T-buckets, or convertibles with their tops off or down got soaked. I drove the Vette in the rain and it performed admirably. Two speed wipers worked fine, the defroster defogged the entire windshield, Power vents helped cool and nothing leaked. Gonna be humid tomorrow!!!

Yesterday, unfortunately, cars on display at the Atlantis Casino were subjected to heavy rain downpours as well as 1/4in hail from thunderstorms. Basically, the thunderstorm cells developed overhead and dropped over an inch of rain in under an hour. To put into perspective the significance of this rainfall, today's downpours added to the 2-day total of 1.47 inches of rain; Reno's August rainfall normally measures 1.67 inches. Hopefully, none of the beautiful cars on display were not damaged by the hail!

More sporadic rain again today. Last rainstorm yesterday at the Nugget hit at 4pm and over by 7. Drove the car down from the garage and joined the cruisers, It started of light but heavy cruising 'til 9:30. Weather was dry and cool. AWESOME! Maybe not so lucky today but should be great Saturday.

This must be isolated to the Reno area. I have a friend in Carson City and he said they didn't get hit by it.

There was a time when those pickups of that vintage was considered pretty ugly. Funny how now things have changed to a new crowd.

Did our last cruise tonight in Reno tonight. Marshals were not moving the cars fast enough. Two lanes makes it nice for a little noise and burnouts competition. I broke my 8.5” Avons from a rolling start to the delight of the crowd. Marshals just smiled. Some even gave me a thumbs up.
After an hour and a half my temp creeped up to 175, so I called it a night. Oil pressure was at 30.
Vette surprised me. With some tweaking should break 12’s.

Thanks Bob.. I'll look for it! I learned to drive in a '57 Plymouth, so I have an affection for them.. and NEVER see one of them...
