Converting from manual to power steering with a CPP 500 box.
When installing the original pitman arm, it's barely going on. I would say that I can get it installed where the splines go halfway into the pitman arm and no more... I used a impact, and am afraid I will mess up the threads if I try to go for anymore.
I am pretty sure that the splines are lined up right, I'm under the impression that the factory pitman arm should work.

Thoughts, ideas, am I doing something wrong?

Without and with nut... 3rd pic showing the amount inside the pitman arm where it is empty between the two.
Does the CPP pitman arm engage more? Not feeling good asking that since I know it's a much hated/poor quality product.

With the lock washer on, the bottom of the nut sits flush with the shaft.

Ok, so are we advising to not buy a repro Pitman Arm, no matter the companies name ? For safety sake find a original because no one make a proper repro Pitman Arm ?
