Looks like a distributor hold down.
I could use one as my distributor hold down bolt keeps vibrating loose letting it slip out of time.

I've seen one somewhere before, I'll have to pay attention next time I'm digging through a couple junk parts containers.

I like the looks of it, but would it be prone to walk if over torqued. They changed it for a reason.?

Not original to any of the years on this site. I think it is a 70's era part. I have had several over the years. No experience with them.

I have one on my '65 C-10 pickup on the 283 it came with (its original engine) - and I like it. Works better than the chrome aftermarket ones you find (and shouldn't use), and as good as the OE stamped steel ones that came on most of the engines in the 70's. I eventually filed points on the ends of the fingers to help it grab the distributor, but never had a problem with it before doing so.
