Gentlemen and Ladies,
I have a '57 4 door Sedan with auto transmission and 235 engine.
I am working on the steering column and I have a question.
The washer on the steering column has 4 notches in it, I understand the notches represent the range between the mast jacket and the top of the lever housing. My question is does the orientation of the notches matter? My inclination is that they do not matter but are only for informational reasons.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all you guys have done!!!

You are correct Jeff....The orientation makes no difference....I believe they were used at the factory to identify different thickness.
