This is going to be a lot of fun for me...my boy Kaleb is excited already and so am I!

As many of you know I sold my 55 210 build. I was looking for another project but not to serious about it. Was holding out for a clean project truck or El Camino since those are what Kaleb seems to be into the most. I wanted him to feel he had a lot of input in this one to help keep his interest, so he gets to help in many of the decisions.

When I stumbled on this 55 3600 3/4 ton I felt I had to jump on it seeing how clean the body was with very little rust and no mangled up fenders like most of them tend to have and besides it's a Trifive Chevy!!(I know thats kind of a stretch but we'll go with it) The truck didn't disappoint, very little work is necessary to make this old beast into a clean street cruiser.

Plans are to fix the rust at the bottom of the cowl, smooth(weld up) the antenna and fuel filler, CLR the body, and then work out the few kinks that were mudded over, maybe shorten the bed(not decided yet...pros and cons??) and finally apply flat clear over the patina.

Lastly will be the full custom chassis build...this is what I'm most excited about as far as the build goes.

Kaleb and I are having fun with this already! Got the body all pulled off the 3600 chassis and cleaned up the firewall to get it ready to be smoothed with holes filled. Then did a little mockup to see what this thing looks like as a hotrod. I think we have a winner, pics coming soon!!

Pretty clean chassis, also up for grabs. This truck is originally from So Cal and it shows.

Nice work so far Greg! You have a great helper. Need some warmer weather here so I can get to work on the 55. It's so cold in my garage.

That's great news buddy. Glad to see you're back to getting your hands dirty and looks like you have a few extra sets too. :tu Paws too.
you are doing a great thing for you and your son. teach him well. Looks like he is one happy lad. Enjoy. thanks for sharing keep us posted :congrats::anim_25:
I don't think I'd even hold a thought about leaving that bed that long. Shortbeds are KING when it comes to hotrods. The 5 lug wheels look SO much better also. Going to be fun seeing what this thing turns out to be!
Here ya go..... A little inspiration.....
