Hi all -

I finally pulled out the rubber mat from my trunk and discovered the floor reinforcement in the attached photos. I went back to the books but can't find anything that shows this part. It's a fairly heavy plate spot welded wall-to-wall to reinforce the shock mounts in the floor. It has the stock paint color on it below all that black but the car has been repainted so I can't tell if this is original or... ???

I should note this is a Canadian-made 57 that has a few other... "abnormalities". Just like its current owner :party0031:

Anyone recognize this?

Someone has added this, probably as a repair. There are two dips in the sheetmetal in this area where the upper part of the shocks mount. You can see what remains of the covered up dip in the bottom photo.
