Greetings, Can someone tell me what front suspension came on a 56 pickup? Did they have a drop axle with leaf springs or independent suspension like the cars did? I'm in the process of getting one, and it has a 4X4 setup from a 76 under it. I was wondering how difficult it would be to find original suspension and put it back to stock(ish). I have no plans to drive it in snow or mud, so it's kind of a wasted effort to me. I had a 74 K5 Blazer in the past, and it steered horrible! Thanks!

I believe they are a straight axle. Did they just change the axle or did they put the body on the 76 4x4 frame? A lot of people do that so it might be worth checking.

He said it was the original frame. Hope to see it soon, it's on the way from Nebraska.
Hopefully you will just be looking at finding a front axle and removing the transfer case, may have to re-fit a driveshaft.

post a pict when you get it.:D

Todd, I'm good - I got the truck a month ago and it is the original frame. I bought an original axle for it and will swap it when the weather is good, no heat in the garage!
