Well kind of. A few months after i bought my T-Bucket the 327 developed some issues so last March, since i was working 60 hours a week and to minimize down time, i swapped in a base 190 hp GM GOODWRENCH crate 350. With the Edelbrock Performer intake/Edelbrock 600 cfm Performer carb and Summit HEI it ran pretty good. But i sure missed the slightly choppy idle from the old Crane Fire Ball cam and that gear drive whine.

The plan was to rebuild the 327, put it back in the T-Bucket and put the 350 in my '56 Chevy more door. Since the '56 will be a cruiser it should run okay.

I finally finished up the swap this weekend. It's been bored .60 over, decked, align bored, balanced, Comp Cams 268h cam, lifters, push rods, rocker arms, valve springs, gear drive and early .194 76cc 350 heads. The Edelbrock intake/carb combo and Summit HEI were reused. I like the looks of the 327 much better. I still need to fine tune the timing and do a little adjusting on the carb but it seems to run pretty good and it sure do sound good. The black one is the 350. The orange one (a Chevy V-8 is supposed to be orange) is the 327.

Oh Yeah!

I know what you mean by the "gear drive whine" - sounds cool! The only sound I like better is that of a Blower! Engines look nice! Have Fun!:bowtieb:

Afraid of the heat and body color to hard to match, soooooo Black. Anyway it looks like a new go-fast crate motor-I'm sure it'll fool everybody, NOT.:)
As long as the engine was cleaned good, the body color paint will stick.

The 350 in my 150 Wagon has been Firethorn Red out of a Wally World can for over 20 years.

A guy I was once in the local Classic Chevy club with painted the 327 in his '57 Delivery the same color as the body. 1972 Cadillac Firemist Saturn Bronze.

Yup. Just like any paint job, preparation is the key. Since it was hot tanked the block was bare metal. I degreased it then wiped it down with acetone, primed it and painted it with Dupli-Color engine paint.

Here's some pics i took earlier today. I think it looks much better with the orange engine.
