The factory used red oxide (actually more of a flat brown) primer on the floor and underbody. I recently bought some PPG DP74LF (red oxide) and DP90LF (black) epoxy primer for my ’56. I will mix the two together before I add the catalyst and hopefully I will get a color close to the original primer.

If your not interested in originality satin black or body color always looks good.

honestly man, if your going to the hastle of taking it to bare metal, after your done each day, spray it with a mist coat of etch primer, such as nason, mist coat meaning transparent. then spend 48 dollars on ebay and get you a quart of por15, this **** is amazing lol
