I have had this brand new DeVilbiss Finishline HVLP paint-gun for a few years now and wanted to know if this is a good paint-gun?I bought it brand new with intentions of having an air-compressor at this point in life but no dice for right now.I guess what I want to know is/is this a good gun and can it be counted on to do primers and paints?I dont want to sound to ignorant but I dont know much about paint-guns and their capabilities. Thanks

I have a Finishline but have only used it for primers so I don't know how well it works for topcoats. I think my brother has used one for BC/CC systems and he liked it okay. I bought a Sharpe Platinum that I was planning to use for topcoats.

I have a Finishline 2 and its primary job is primer.

I have sprayed some single stage with it and it worked pretty good. The tip is kind of big for color (I think it's 16mm). Most color guns are going to be 13 mm. Finishline 3 may come with different tips from a 2.

You will need a good compressor to keep up with its airflow requirement. I think it's around 10 or 12 cfm @40 psi.

My recommendation if you don't have a compressor and haven't painted, get a good compressor and get some experience at painting with the Finishline. At first the gun isn't going to make a difference unless it has something wrong with it. After you have some experience, then you can decide what the best next step might be.
