I rebuilt the PS control valve for my Dad's 57 and the fluid is leaking out of the dust cap end. I need help knowing what exactly goes on the spool valve and the direction of the rubber seal. I do not have any diagrams that gave me enough details. I am attaching a picture.

1) on the end of the spool valve, is there just a rubber seal and nothing else?
2) I put the seal on the spool valve so that the thick end goes towards the main body and the thin edge goes towards the dust cap - was that correct?
3) some pictures (very hard to read) make it look like there is a metal ring or paper gasket some how on there between the top of the rubber seal and the dust cap end of the spool?
4) if you look at the picture, the rubber seal does not fill the whole gap on the spool valve. is it too small?

I appreciate any help. thanks
