i JUST BOUGHT THIS 56 NOMAD THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER GAVE ME A A QUART OF SINGLE STAGE PPG. HAS ANYONE TRIED DIFFERENT REDUCERS OR HARDENERS?I USE SHER-WILL BUT NOT SURE IF I CAN USE IT WITH PPG. I KNOW THE REP SAID NO BUT HAS ANYONE OUT THERE IN THE REAL WORLD TRIED DIFFERENT REDUCERS ETC?

The safe way is to stick with the PPG stuff. The hardener is probably more important than the reducer. In fact the reducer is cheap, it's not worth messing with another. On the other hand you can probably switch brands with less risk. More important on the reducer is the temperature it works at. You need a slow reducer in hot weather, which is here for some of us.

Use DT 860, for 60 degrees, DT 870 for 70, and DT 885 for 85. Use CDCX 61 for hardener or DU 5 or 6. 4 parts DCC- 2 DT and 1 DCX. Or 4 DCC- 1 DT and 1 DU 5 or 6.
This has worked for me- all PPG. Ask the guy at the paint store for his recommendation.
