Im welding 1x1 16ga tubing, i have a 125 cylinder of argon/co2, seems like i went through my big cylinder really fast.

My welder is a hobart 140 its set on #2 with a wire speed around 40. The gas was set to around 15 but it seemed like it was using too much so i bumped it down to around 5-7 and it still seems like it is still using too much. Whats the right amount of gas and how long should it last?

At 15 CFH you should go through a 125 CF bottle in a little over 8 hours of welding. If it welds okay, turn it down some more.

I use 15 to 17 cfh.

Make sure you are reading the right scale on the gauge.
Mine was counter intuitive and when I saw I was using gas kind of fast, I realized that I was reading the metric scale and had it set too high.
