I'm in the process of installing a horn, and I want to see what's good and what's not. The relay clicks intermittently, I think it's because the plastic ring (I don't know what it's called) inside the horn button is broken? Anybody else come across this problem?

As Carl said, the vendors have a repair kit with the horn parts for the steering column. If the plastic notched spacer is broken, it probably isn't compressing the cupped washer (beleville spring) enough to contact the center steel part of the wheel. BUT..the horn should honk when the relay clicks. To test the relay, temporiarly jumper the dark green smaller wire on the horn relay to ground. The horn should honk. If not, then temporiarly jumper between the red wire (constant 12 volts) and the black wire (wire to horn). If not, the horn is bad or not grounded to the body. ....http://www.trifive.com/garage/56%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/12-17.gif

Well actually there's no horn in the car at the moment, i'm just trying to fix the control side of the horn circuit so that when I do pick out a horn, (I'm thinking an aoogah horn) it'll be that much easier
