I am replacing my 6 cylinder with 3 speed on tree with a 283 and a 2 speed trans. will I need to change out the rear end and can anyone tell my what gears I might have?? The rear end is original.:sign0009:
If you have a 55/56 it should be 3.70:1, a 57 should be 3.55:1, either of which will work fine. (BUT) For a little less rpms and better gas mileage, you might want to keep an eye out for a 3.36 or 3.08. It's not something that you have to spend big bucks on right away to drive your car, it's going to turn the same rpms in drive as it did in 3rd gear.
