Yes, the Nova rear end will fit and yes you will have to change the spring perches. The Nova multi leaf perches won't work. I'm pretty sure that the angels are also wrong. It's been a while sense I built a '55-'57 rear end, but I have the measurements in my shop.
'72 was the first year for the 8.5 in the Nova, so that is what this should be. The Nova 8.5 is a very good rear end and there are a lot of parts available for it to make it stronger. These are very popular for 1st gen Camaros. I wish I had a truck load of them. I could sell every one in about a month.
