Greetings all, does anyone have experience replacing rockers? I put in my full floor and am now attempting to replace the rockers, but apparently it is off by an inch. Is it possible that the rotting toe boards (also going to be replaced) have allowed the front to 'settle' or is there something else that needs addressed? Thanks, Craig

Outer. The floor pan has the inners welded on. I believe I was right that the rotted toe boards let it sink. I put a lever under it and lifted it up, and it lines up pretty good now. I have a welder coming in half an hour, so I should have one side done today. :D
So youre using the Taiwan-made floor (good choice). Are you using the taiwan-made outer rockers? The USA made rockers are not stamped correctly. They are an inch too tall. If youre using the taiwan-made outer rockers then youre good to go.

on the way home from El Paso but could.nt respond. I assume you still have the doors attached. If not, do you have it braced in a manner that kept the proper relationship of the doors to the opening?

Not sure where the rockers are from, other than East Coast Chevy, but they're the same size as the inner rockers on the floor pan.

Nick, yes, the doors are still on. I did put bracing from the wheel wells to the kick panel area and a tie between them. You can see them in the pics in my sig (page 2)

I got one side on yesterday, and today and tomorrow I get the Monte and the Vette inspected, but as soon as I'm done with them, I'll be cutting out the old one (whats left of it) on the other side. Then the fun task of trying to fab up a dog leg

The taiwan made parts are coated in a black primer (edp). The USA parts are uncoated

Floor pan (and trunk pan) are black, everything else is uncoated.
Theres the problem. USA parts dont fit anyones car without modification. I would buy the (edp coated) Taiwan made outer rockers as well as any other piece of sheetmetal you need. The taiwan made outer rockers have the front fender bracket already welded to the rocker which is an added plus.

That explains why I had to cut and weld mine to get them to fit. I thought my '55 had something out of wack.
