Has anyone tried to find a salvage yard fuel tank with an internal high pressure pump to run an LY6 Vortec that will fit our trifive trucks??. I have an 80 CJ7 with a Vortec and rail mounted high pressure pump and find the noise to be objectional in the Jeep , especially since I drive it open with a bikini top. Surely there is one that is adaptable??? Mayo

Thanks for the tip. My Gen III Vortec in my Jeep requires upper 50's to lower 60's lbs of pressure with a rail mounted regulator and a return line. Are the GenIV pressure requirements the same or do I recall that pressure is lower? Anyway, point well taken, 05 and later will be the right pressure setup for the LY6, ----got it. Mayo

Its the same pressures for Gen III/IV.

Its the same pressures on the return less rails vs the return rails as well. The FPR (fuel pressure reg.) is in the tank on the trucks.

I would buy a complete used sender/reg. pump. Then just build a custom tank to fit your frame rails out of aluminum. That way you know it'll fit. And you'll have the pump and regulator all in the tank and just one fuel line to the motor.
