So today i got a new cable installed on my 1959 Apache 3100 Pickup and wouldnt you know the head was really dry and needed lube, so i squeezed a little graphite powder lubricant into the head and put the cable back in, and it pegged itself at 100MPH and the needle broke off! :banghead: is this a hard fix? if i opened up the cluster which is similar to a 55-56 chevy car cluster, can i fix the needle or is it shot? i want to know before i blow money on a working cluster on ebay.

I rewired my car last winter. Before I did the gauge cluster I took it apart to clean the lenses and such. It looked pretty straight forward. There is not much in there. I do know that for the tri5 that danchuck and others have replacement cluster parts. Below are some replacement parts... Give it a try. What the worse that can happen :)
