Hi Guys, Recently purchased a 1955 Chevy 210 2dr. I need to replace the control arm bushing so I might a well rebuild the front end, springs, poor mans power steering, power disc brakes. The question is: Should I lower the front end a couple inches. I measured the current front end and it is sagging about 1.5 inches. I would like a small amount of rake between the front and back end but don't want the front end so low that I am banging into stuff and I would still like to be able to get underneath the car to change the oil without jacking it up all the time. What are the advantages/disadvantages from your experience

Hi James and welcome, i used the 2" drop spindel kit from Caldwells it worked out great. Got the disc brake kit and front end kit all @ the same time. Just finished getting it all set up on my 55 bel air and it has a good rake but not too low in front.

:sign0016: to Trifive James. I lowered my '57 with the 2" drop spindles and I love it. People say that you lose some of your turning radius, which I'm sure is true, but IMO not that noticeable. Also by going with the drop spindles you don't lose ride quality. :tu One thing for sure... you won't be changing your oil w/o jacking up your car though.

Welcome, I like the stance it has right now. Advantage of spindles over springs is ride quality, shorter springs equals higher spring rate (stiffer). Wish I could do the spindles myself right now, but all in good time. Good luck.
